The book of Revelation has a complex structure, showcasing history ending in final judgment. The books main theme revolves around Christ's triumph over the forces of evil and His re-creation of the world for the redeemed.

Revelation 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Additional Notes

The main theme in the book of Revelation is the Lord Jesus Christ's ultimate triumph over the forces of evil and His re-creation of the world for the redeemed. However upon closer investigation we soon discover more integrated themes, revealing the amazing structure of this book..

Two Themes regarding Physical and Spiritual

The struggle on earth between believers and non-believers. Chapters 1-11
The spiritual background. Chapters 12-22

Three Themes regarding Time

Past: "the things which thou hast seen." Chapter 1
Present: "the things which are." Chapters 2-3
Future: "the things which shall be hereafter." Chapters 4-22

Four "Mirrored" Themes centred around Trials and Judgments

1. War - Counsel to the church, scattered and at war. Chapters 1-3
2. Afflicted people - Jesus comforts His afflicted people. Chapters 4-7
3. Judgments - Seven severe judgments warn the world. Chapters 8-11
4. Trials - Trials of the woman (Israel). Chapters 12-14
