Introduction

Once saved, the Holy Spirit will convict a person of their sin, leading them to a natural desire of wanting to live a life free from sin. Even though a Christian can (and still does) commit sin, their spirit is saved. The Lord Jesus died for ALL our sins (past, present and future). A believer has been reconciled by the blood of Jesus through which peace has been made - they have been justified. Believers are sanctified by the Holy Spirit, and sealed by God until the day of redemption. A believer cannot lose their salvation. Saved or unsaved, everyone is guilty of sin. Trusting in Jesus and His shed blood on the cross to pay for your sins, is what saves you from hell.

The Holy Spirit indwells a believer

John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

See also 1 Corinthians 3:16; 2 Timothy 1:14; 1 John 3:24

A saved person is "born again" and their spirit is of incorruptible seed:

1 Peter 1:4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

1 Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

A saved person is "led by the Spirit"..

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

The Holy Spirit will convict them of their sin

Once saved, the Holy Spirit will convict a person of their sin, leading them to a natural inner desire of wanting to live a life free from sin.

John 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. 12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Romans 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. 19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness. 20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. 21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. 22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Even though a Christian can {and still does} commit sin, their spirit is saved. A person who is truly saved will feel convicted and ashamed of their sin. The believer's works will be "revealed by fire" but they themselves will be saved. 1 Corinthians 3:10-15, 5:1-5

Believers are sanctified by the Holy Spirit (the on-going process of being made holy or perfect). Acts 26:18; Romans 15:16; 1 Corinthians 2:12-13, 6:11; Philippians 1:6; 1 John 2:27

Believers are washed, sanctified and justified:

1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Believers are promised not to come into condemnation

A believer is promised not to come into condemnation. Christ will keep and present them faultless.

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

1 Corinthians 1:7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: 8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

See also Romans 8:1; 1 Peter 1:3-5

Believers have been "purchased" and are "sealed"

Believers have been "purchased" and are "sealed" by the spirit until the day of redemption:

Ephesians 1:10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: 11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

See also 2 Corinthians 1:21-22; Ephesians 4:30; Philippians 1:6

Salvation is not based on works

Salvation is not based on works. A believer cannot work to get salvation, therefore a believer cannot work to keep salvation.

Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

See also Acts 13:39; Romans 3:28, 4:5; Galatians 2:16; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:5

Sin can no longer affect a believer's salvation because they have been freed from it (the believer is dead to Sin). Romans 6:1-14, 6:22; 1 Peter 2:24

You can KNOW that you are saved!

Believers can know they are saved.

1 John 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

No one is able to pluck those who are saved out of the Father's hand:

John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

Romans 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

A believer cannot lose their salvation. Period. Saved or unsaved, everyone is guilty of sin. Trusting in Jesus and His shed blood on the cross to pay for your sins, is what saves you from hell.
